Leovigildo Sanchez-Casado: "Novel IDS approaches for detecting malicious behaviour in MANETs"

Abstract: MANETs are infraestructureless networks composed of self-configurable mobile devices communicating via multi-hop strategy. Due to its characteristics, they are becoming particularly useful candidates in several areas, such as military applications, disaster management, etc. As MANETs proliferate, many security issues need to be conveniently addressed. Among others, packet dropping and sinkhole attacks are some of the most disruptive threats in MANETs. Therefore, novel IDS approaches for detecting this kind of malicious behaviors were proposed. Besides, an OMNeT-based framework for the simulation of network attacks (NETA) was developed. NETA is intended to become a useful framework, allowing the implementation and evaluation of many types of attacks and the accurate benchmarking of defense solutions under same testing conditions.

Everybody is cordially invited to attend.
